    Hairdryer treatment over the phone

Snooker legend Ken Doherty had an embarrassingly awkward conversation with Manchester United's iconic manager Sir Alex Ferguson after winning the World Championship.

Dohert won his only world title in 1997 by defeating Stephen Hendry at the Crucible and became the toast of Ireland as he returned home for an open-top bus parade in Dublin.

The Darlin' of Dublin's triumph also caught many other esteemed figures' attention and was thus invited to showcase his trophy in another momentous occasion.

Crafty Ken received an unexpected phone call from snooker fanFerguso who offered him the opportunity to present his title at Old Trafford on the last match of the 1996-97 Premier League season.

However, the phone call went completely south as the Irishman suspected it was a prank from one of his mates and proceeded to drop an F-bomb to one of the greatest managers of all time.

I got a phone call a week later. I didn't recognise the number, the voice went [does an impression of Ferguson], 'Kenny, do you fancy coming and parading that trophy around Old Trafford?'

I told him to f*** off! I thought it was one of my mates winding me up.

He said again, 'Kenny, it's Alex Ferguson here, I'm not going to ask you a second time'.

"So I had to apologise. Not many people have said that to him and got away with it! But he saw the funny side. He loves snooker.

    Andre Onana advice - EXCLUSIVE

Former Chelsea ace Geremi has told Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana to block out the abuse and back himself as the team's No1.

Onana's former Cameroon team-mate has now slammed trolls who have targeted the 29-year-old and says some have crossed the line.

Every player has to accept criticism, but with Onana people go beyond that and even attack his family.

Fifa does not allow that. Fifa frowns on discrimination and insults. This has to stop.

Onana must believe in himself, he is Manchester United’s No 1. He needs to shut out the noise.

He’s done well to get to this level. Now he just has to block out the negativity.

Juventus are currently fifth in the Serie A table with only one point separating them from the top four, which leads to Champions League qualification.

    Rasmus Hojlund swap

Manchester United's struggling ace Rasmus Hojlund could be offered a potential escape route by former club Atalanta - and that could see a partial swap deal bringingAdemola Lookmanback to the Premier League.

There is also interest from clubs in Germany, but the Serie A outfit believe Hojlund would be open-minded to a return to the club where he made his name.

Club scouts have watched the striker's recent matches and remain in touch with the players' representatives, who ensured he left the club on good terms two years ago.

But an extra element in any deal could involve Lookman, who is keen to return to England after three successful seasons in Italy.

The London-born winger is thought to be open to a move to Old Trafford.

A player-plus-cash swap would help United’s PSR position as they would otherwise have to agree a £38million fee this summer to avoid an accounts book “loss”.

    Dwindling interest?

Ruben Amorim has claimed that Manchester United will have no problem attracting the best players this summer, despite a record-worst points tally in the Premier League.

United will be without Champions League football next term if they fail to win the Europa League, but Amorim reckons that will make no difference to the names they can lure to Old Trafford.

He said: "It is Manchester United. What I feel is that there's a lot of players that want to play for our club.

"I know that if you look at our club in the moment, it looks like, sometimes, with all the problems, with the staff, with people going, changing coach, the results, it looks a little bit of a problem in the moment.

"But we have a clear idea and that is the easiest part to explain to a player. And then it is Manchester United. Everybody wants to play for Manchester United.”
