This year, Nollywood filmmakers have blessed Nigerians by releasing several movies that have left us with so many emotions, most of which are positive.
With one month left in 2024, the film industry has proven that these filmmakers continuously push themselves to improve their creativity with each production released into the media for public consumption.
This month of November, we bring to your attention movies and series that will be released in November, knowing that each of them has the power to leave you shell-shocked and in awe of the Nollywood film industry.
- Her Perfect Life (November 1)
Mo Abudu’s directorial debut, featuring the short films “Her Perfect Life” and “Iyawo Mi,” will premiere on Apple TV this month. “Her Perfect Life,” starring Pearl Thusi, Joseph Benjamin, and Omowunmi Dada, follows Onajide Ibrahim, a 39-year-old woman who appears to have it all—a successful career, a thriving business, and a loving family—yet struggles with a desire to end her life.
- Iyawo Mi (November 1)
Iyawo Mi is set in a gritty neighbourhood of Lagos. It follows a young man, played by Lateef Adedimeji, who returns home one evening to find his wife, portrayed by Bolaji Ogunmola, experiencing a severe mental breakdown. The film also features Blessing Jessica Obasi-Nze in a supporting role.
- Princess on a Hill (November 7)
Co-created by Abiola Sobo and Tolu Ajayi, this series follows the journey of a young woman after she wins the Lawson Group’s Leading Ladies reality show. The story revolves around her challenge to save the company while navigating themes of power, ambition, and corporate rivalry. It features a stellar cast, including Onyinye Odokoro, Bimbo Manuel, Efa Iwara, Ireti Doyle, Femi Jacobs, Andrew Bunting, Mimi Chaka, and Norbert Young.
- Domitilla (November 8)
The reboot of the Nollywood classic Domitilla reimagines the 1996 film with a new storyline directed by Kayode Kasum. It follows Domitilla and her friends, Judith and Jenny, as street hawkers. Domitilla’s life changes when she becomes the mistress of a prominent politician, but her world is turned upside down after he is found dead in a hotel room. Starring Teniola Aladese, Uzoamaka Aniunoh, and others, the film was released in cinemas in 2023 and will be available on Netflix on November 8.
- Family Gbese (November 8)
Uzor Arukwe stars in this drama-comedy directed by Michelle Bello (Flower Girl). The film follows Nnamdi Nwagba, whose perfect life is shaken by a challenging request from his mentor, prompting him to reevaluate loyalty, family, and success. The cast includes Mike Ezuruonye, Teniola Aladese, Ireti Doyle, and more, and it hits cinemas nationwide.
- My Fairytale Wedding (November 10)
“My Fairytale Wedding” is a mystical three-part limited series that follows one woman’s quest for true love while highlighting the often unseen consequences associated with her desires. The series is set to premiere on Showmax after airing on Africa Magic in October. It features an ensemble cast that includes Ramsey Nouah, Ini Edo, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Mercy Eke, Caroline Hutchings, Uzor Arukwe, Lillian Esoro, Daniel Etim Effiong, and Tina Mba.
- A Ghetto Love Story (November 22)
‘A Ghetto Love Story’ is written by Basketmouth and Victoria Eze and focuses on rebuilding faith in resilience and strengthening community bonds. The film promises to focus on some of the dismissed themes in Nollywood as it celebrates originality. The film features several A-list actors like Beverly Osu, Nkem Owoh, Akah Nnani, Mercy Johnson Okojie, Patience Ozokwor, Bethel Njoku, Genoveva Umeh, Ehiz Dadaboy, Wale Ojo, Bright Okpocha, Romeo WJ, Dorathy Bachor, Daniel Etim Effiong, and Vandora.
- Suspicion (November 28)
A man endowed with extraordinary powers is on a relentless quest for vengeance following the murder of his friend. As he immerses himself in the dark arts of black magic, he confronts betrayal and faces profound moral challenges. He is forced to make a decisive choice about how far he will go to achieve justice. The crime thriller featuring Richard Mofe Damijo, Stan Nze, Uzor Arukwe, Tina Mba, and Omowunmi Dada. “Suspicion” will be available on Prime Video.
- Wole Soyinka – Eni Ogun (November 29)
Wole Soyinka – Eni Ogun, directed and produced by Joshua Ojo, will debut in cinemas across Nigeria. The film delves into the life and legacy of Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka, featuring Lateef Adedimeji in the lead role alongside actors like Segun Arinze, Jide Kosoko, and Bimbo Oshin.
- Sisi London (November 29)
Chioma Akpotha and Omoni Oboli star in the new comedy film “Sisi London,” premiering on Netflix across Africa this season. The film also features the late actor Ameachi Muonagor.
